In no particular order…
- Toddlers wearing costumes around town…weeks before Halloween.
- Hearing the marching band from the HS stadium, 1/4 mile away.
- The color of the sunlight as it filters through the golden leaves.
- Kids (in rubber boots) going on pumpkin patch field trips.
- The first leaf-raking afternoon (I don’t so much enjoy all the other leaf raking afternoons that follow).
- Carmel apple lollipops.
- Pumpkin pie.
- Crisp breezes.
- Pulling sweaters out of storage.
- Pumpkins on the porch and my traditional mini pumpkin on the mantle.
- The last glimpses of sunshine before Oregon’s winter rains begin.
One of my favorite fall things is seeing a job well done when the garden is harvested and put up for the winter’s use… canned in jars, dried or frozen. We raised our boys with a garden and therefore, they love to eat about anything one can grow. Our younger son said when he gets his own home, he wants to raise a garden for his kids to enjoy. A blessing passed on to the next generations.
I love trips to the pumpkin patch, the new fall scented candles from Yankee Candle, hayrides, bonfires, weenie roasts and chili cook-offs. Fall is my favorite! 🙂
Pamela,
I admire folks who can garden, harvest and can. My mother always canned and we had homemade applesauce, canned pears/peaches, jams and jellies. Yum!
Jessica,
Mmmm. Pumpkin candles! Love them. Makes my house SMELL like I’ve been baking, even if I haven’t. 🙂
